MBZ Resident Opportunities - 

Applications for 2026 are now being accepted. 

Each spring, summer, and fall, up to two residents are provided with free housing on MBZ grounds in a private cabin in exchange for 10 hours of work/practice each week. Residents help with housekeeping, groundskeeping, and Airbnb management. Residents with experience doing Buddhist practice are encouraged to apply.  An opportunity to practice in the Korean Kwan Um Zen and Zen Peacemaker lineages is available for residents seeking practice with a teacher (see practice opportunities posted on the MBZ webpage). MBZ is part of Maine Downeast coastal culture located on the beautiful Blue Hill Peninsula in Surry, Maine close to Blue Hill, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park.
