Morgan Bay Zendo Online in through May 30, 2021

The Morgan Bay Zendo at 532 Morgan Bay Road in Surry wants to be of service to the community – near and far. Other years, MBZ opened for the season the first Sunday in April with a community gathering on the first Sunday in May to celebrate the Buddha’s birthday, a joyful celebration of renewal. This year, the Zendo must remain closed through the summer. With that in mind, MBZ will offer two weekly online opportunities to come together for 25 minutes of meditation, a short talk, and discussion. Each session will last an hour and is open to all.

To join an MBZ online meeting, please go to the MBZ website, the Facebook page, or click on the links below. Please visit, contact, or check Facebook for more information in the weeks ahead.

Sunday, 9-10 am – Meditation, Talk, & Discussion
A different sangha member will facilitate each week. (Jiki schedule) (passcode 122161)

Tuesday, 6-6:30 am
Wednesday, 5-6 pm
Tea House Zen in the Korean Zen tradition with Nancy Hathaway, a Senior Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen. The evening will begin with drinking tea together (please bring your own!), sitting meditation for 25 minutes with short instruction for newcomers, a talk, and discussion. (no passcode needed)

We also invite the community to walk a contemplative path in the Moss Garden. For a description and map of the path, please go to and search for “Morgan Bay Zendo Contemplative Path” or click here. The path to the Moss Garden has suffered winter damage so a walking stick is advised for navigating the path down from the parking lot to the Moss Garden. (No dogs please.)
